Coming up with a stellar “caramel” recipe has been a huge win in my book because it can be added to soooo many things… Drizzled over brownies or blondies, spooned over ice-cream, on top of cupcakes or your favorite fruit, eaten by the spoonful…

With this all natural salted caramel sauce, you will definitely be wanting more as soon as you take your first bite. Although it is not the traditional caramel sauce you may have had growing up, it tastes just as sweet, buttery, and smooth. It’s pretty much perfection in a jar.  Not gonna lie!

And what’s even better about this salted caramel sauce is that it is made from only 5 ingredients – dates, almond milk, pure maple syrup, sea salt, and organic vanilla extract.

It’s quick and easy to make, too! All you have to do is soak the pitted dates to get them nice and soft (for about 30 minutes), and then throw all of the ingredients into a high speed blender. The trick is to work your way up to the highest speed, little by little. Once it is completely smooth and free from any chunks of dates (which should only take a few minutes if you have a good blender),  it is ready to serve! My Vitamix actually heats the caramel mixture as it blends, so if you would rather enjoy it cool, stick it in the refrigerator for a bit, and serve it later.

I have to be honest, this salted caramel sauce is a game changer when trying to eat clean.  Just a small serving can transform even the most ordinary snack or meal; it doesn’t always have to be paired with a dessert!

What Are Other Ways to Enjoy Salted Caramel Sauce?

  • Blend into your favorite smoothie or add as a topping
  • Drizzle over ice-cream, chocolate mousse, or mix into your ice-cream and freeze
  • Mix into a cheesecake or your yogurt parfait
  • Drizzle over grilled fruit (peaches, bananas, or pears are a great flavor combo with this)
  • Drizzle over apple slices (make apple nachos with mini chocolate chips and this sauce!) OR banana slices (see previous, but use those nanners!)
  • Drizzle over roasted carrots or sweet potatoes
  • Add a dollop to your protein pancakes or waffles
